Perhaps the most renowned of all fleets of passenger steam locomotives in the United States was the Pennsylvania Railroad K-4s 4-6-2; 425 were built during the 1914-1928 period. For more than thirty years, they were the backbone of the motive-power pool which sped such famous trains as the BROADWAY LIMITED, THE TRAILBLAZER, and others between New York, Chicago, and St. Louis. Only two of them survived scrapping. No. 1361, built by the PRR Altoona Shops in 1917, has been returned to operating status and has run limited excursions. The 1361 is seen passing a 19th century mill building at Bellefonte, Pennsylvania on July 21, 1987.
